accomplished.

i played the restoration medley by paul cardall in my ward on sunday. it was probably one of my most favorite times i have ever played for an audience. it was silent. & peaceful. & wonderful in every way. afterward, i was rather shocked at the reactions. people approaching me, with tears in their eyes, simply thanking me. afterward, a lady i love very much came over to my house & couldn't express the joy & gratitude she had for the song i had played. she mentioned: "it's amazing that you have spent so many years to be able to play something like that." i think it's one of the most amazing feelings when people walk up to you you, text you, or call you, to tell you  how much your music has inspired them. it makes it all worth it. it gives me a shove to keep going.

i have always despised playing for crowds.
my nerves never ease.
but there is something about getting up there & playing from your heart.
that song expressed the words i couldn't say.
& i loved it.

afterward, when we got home, mr. schroeder gave me a hug & said some very very nice things.
"you played a beautiful piece. i was so impressed.
i always wanted to marry a musical kind of girl. i love you."
followed by the best hug ever. best husband award? i think so.

i think it's kind of silly to say, but it's hard to explain the explicit feeling & message i get
from the man upstairs while consumed in the music i play.
i'm loved. you're loved. we're all loved.
make this week a great one. & go practice your instruments, music people!

ps. did you enter the giveaway? it's my favorite one yet. so go enter!

  1. See, I wasn't blessed with the playing music for peeps gene, but I was blessed with an I love music & I will listen to it all day long if you let me, and sing horribly to said music, so I guess what I'm saying, I'm so grateful for people like you girl, who are willing to go out on a limb to play for people like me!

  4. How cool! I don't play the piano, but I sing and I totally know what you mean about wanting to perform in front of a crowd but still having those shaking nerves. That is awesome that you were able to share your talent!

  5. I LOVE this!!! I feel the same way. I sang at my grandpa's funeral with some cousins and it wasn't anything exciting, but people were coming up to me afterward and saying such nice things about something that is just so normal to me.

  8. I love music and also play the piano- I know what you mean when you say that your nerves never ease up when it comes to playing for crowds, but the feeling afterwards is so amazing. And I think that when you forget the people and just play for you- the feeling then is incredible sometimes I feel like that's when the feeling and meaning behind the song hit's the performer most. Thanks for sharing- I love your lovely blog! :)

  11. Everything about this is beautiful. How long have you been playing?
I sing, and I feel the same way about it. I was in my state choir for two years in high school, and it's incredible how much God can show you how much He loves you just through music.

Also. I shipped out your book today. (: Sorry it was Monday instead of Friday!

Also, again. I nominated you for an award! Go check it out. (:
