throwback - the reception & advice

my whole life, i was planning on a summer wedding. then i met mr. schroeder. and things just weren't realistic. the timing wasn't right & a winter wedding was what needed to be done. i was bummed at first until we started looking at venues. we shopped around quite a bit & my mother told me about this greenhouse in draper, utah...called le jardin. we went. fell in love. & that's where our venue was! i would highly recommend this place. it was so beautiful, well put together, and BIG ENOUGH if you have a lot of guests coming! i thought i would show some cute pictures i loved from the reception. most of them were all the guests, however, there were definitely a few pictures i adored. again, like yesterday, i apologize in advance for the photo overload.

my nephews watching our wedding video:

this is so precious, seriously. mr. schroeder dancing with his mother. who is now, a survivor of lymphoma.

these next two pictures always bring me to tears. for anyone that personally knows me, they will know that i'm a daddy's girl. i act like him. i joke like him. i am basically his clone. i hated the fact that the last dance sort of represented letting your daughter go into new hands, her husband. i mean, i love that at the same time. however, it still stung a little bit. or a lotta bit maybe. my dad is my best friend. i love him so much. & these pictures just say it all.

MY ADVICE for the reception:
• eat. your. food. i don't know what we were thinking. it's like we were in such a hurry to get out of there. we didn't grab food. & we were starving. whaat? eat your food, people!
• if you're having a line at your wedding, wear comfy shoes.
• have somebody available to run & grab you water throughout the line.
• dance. seriously, dance. that was my favorite part.
• smash the cake in each other's face.
• lick it off of each other.
• drive away, happy, and ready for a new future with your husband!

  1. beautiful! I had always dreamed of a summer wedding too, but timing didn't work for us either! The daddy daughter dance is always so bittersweet.

  2. So beautiful!!! I've only heard about this venue once before. I was set on a fall wedding in my parents' backyard, but like your situation, it would have been unreasonable, so we had a June wedding and the day was absolutely PERFECT For a backyard wedding!!!

P.S. I LOVE that you guys smashed the cake. So many people are too cool for that haha, and Joe and I got each other good!! The best part was when my very good mother yelled, "He can lick that off later!" when I was wiping frosting off my ear with a napkin haha.

I totally agree with your comfy shoes suggestion, except I thought I had comfy flats and ended up just taking them off and putting them next to me in line because I was sick of wearing them and I'm a barefoot kind of girl, especially standing in the grass in my backyard!

The food thing was great! I don't think Joe ate any of our food until way later. Our line was constant and for an hour and a half to two hours we were just talking and talking and talking to people. But my best friend and her husband are so great, at their wedding, I was the water/food person for the wedding line, we actually have a really great picture of me fixing her hair and her husband eating the canoli that I'd just brought him, it was one of my favorites... anyway, that awesome friend of mine and her husband brought me a plate of food while Joe was chatting with his mission buddies and her husband held my bouquet while I stuffed my face full of cupcakes and fruit haha. We have a great picture of that one too!

And I'm still bummed that I couldn't convince Joe to dance at our reception. I should have just told him, "Too bad so sad dude!"

Ok...that is all... sorry I wrote you a novel! Love you girl!!!
