how i lost the weight!

a lot of you are instagram followers of mine. if so, i posted this picture:

i lost 13 pounds in 1 month. and i honestly feel super super accomplished. so i got a bajillion messages & texts asking me how i lost the weight. so i thought i'd write a quick little post about the main things i did to get me healthy.

the crucial things
• no sweets
• no soda
• no eating after 7pm.
• 3 servings of fruits & 3 servings of veggies/day.
• 4 oz. protein each meal.
• only 1 grain a day
example: one piece of 100% whole wheat bread or one serving of whole wheat pasta.

this isn't necessarily a diet. i hate diets. i kind of think they're stupid. because once you're off of them, you gain it all back. with this, i'm learning the right ways to eat, what's okay, and what's not. for the second month, it is a little bit more strict. i'm super excited to keep that weight off & hopefully continue to lose to meet my goal weight.

i'm not going to lie. for the first few days, mr. schroeder would always have to remind me that clean eating is 90% attitude. which it totally is. my eating habits completely sucked. up until i got married, i could eat anything i wanted & get away with it. but now, that isn't the case. i don't even know why. clean eating is so crucial. i can't even explain the amounts of wonderful clean eating has made me feel. i have more energy.  i sleep better. food doesn't make me feel sick to my stomach anymore. i'm in a much better mood. it's just lovely! i just feel like the hardest part is self-motivation. some people think they can't do it. some people think that instead of giving up a couple bad habits, they'd rather gain the weight. and that's fine. to each his own. but it's definitely possible. no matter what. though i'm not on the paleo diet, i found this chart i really really liked from a neat site.

y'all can do it. set your mind to it. and just do it. you'll feel so much better & super accomplished when you step on that scale & see what you never thought you'd see again.

  1. I am a HUGE advocate of the paleo diet! I probably do it about 80/20, simply because my body doesn't function with so few carbs. However, cutting out sodas and fake sugars was a life-changer. I'll admit I sneak raw milk in once a week because my body loveeess dairy, but I've never felt healthier! :)

  4. Congrats on your weight loss! Even I am noticing a change in my body too, I no longer can chow down on three donuts and lose weight, so I have been working on eating healthier too...I agree it is so freakin hard. I get home see a cookie, and think what will this one cookie do to me? Then i end up eating four haha

  12. Yay for being healthy! Zac and I laugh sometimes about the word diet. Techncially everyone who eats or does not eat is on a diet, its really just a difference in if it's a restrictive diet, a healthy diet, or a eat anything you want diet. The healthy ones make me feel better, so I try to do that. And yeah, doesn't eating good feel SO GOOD after it's a habit and the cravings for junk go away?

  13. Gooo Girl! It is amazing the difference you body feels when eating healthy. I so believe that healthy eating is the only way to really loose weight the proper way, and keep it off for good. Plus with eating healthy you can totally adjust your intake to your own body, so you feel your best!
