i've been wanting to do a fit friday for a few months because a friend of mine gave me the wonderful idea! i think it'd be fun. and not every single week. but each time i discover something new, whether it be a recipe, a workout, or some tips, i'd love to share them. i was so excited when i lost 13 pounds last month, people would not stop asking me what it was i had done. so i thought this would be a great idea !
today, i'm going to start with BEGINNING clean eating. i have too many people approach me and say they can't just quit drinking soda cold turkey, or they can't stop eating bread overnight. one of my friends told me she wishes she had my self-control. well, my friends, in my opinion, nobody just has self control. they must be challenged & tried and work at it for quite a bit to gain full self control. and i still don't have full self control. i'd love to begin with the start of clean eating. these are all my opinions & experiences. 5 simple steps to start clean eating without quitting everything cold turkey. these are the things i believe helped me the most.
1. drink more water. i truly believe one of the biggest things that helped me lose weight was drinking so much water. it allowed me to not be so hungry since i was always full on water. plus, your system needs to be cleansed! just take a gander at the color of your urine! ha. you want it clear...all the time.
2. cut sweets out and allow yourself to cheat once a week. this includes soda.
i cut sweets out cold turkey & am super glad i did. however, some people just can't do it. so allow yourself one small treat, one chocolate chip cookie, or one scoop of ice cream. nothing crazy!
3. don't eat after 7pm.
one of my friends told me about how she pulls graveyards. clearly, not eating after 7pm wouldn't be good for you if you slept during the day. so alter it to your schedule. plan your meals if you don't get off work until 6:30. this will make you sleep so much better & allow your stomach to break down your food before hitting the sheets.
4. read the labels.
i had no idea how many things were bad for you until i starting reading the labels. don't look at the nutritional facts, look at the ingredients. you want everything in its most natural form. here i thought most granola bars were healthy, but no. keep in mind there are many disguises to hide the word sugar, like:
the words "syrup", "sweetener", and anything ending in "ose" can usually be assumed sugar.
a lot of sugar free foods have ingredients called sugar alcohols in them like maltitol and sorbitol. these are actually worse than sugar! surprise surprise.
5. eat more fruits & veggies.
all clean eating diets i have come across suggest you eat at least 3 servings of fruits and 3 servings of veggies daily. get in the habit of eating low-carb fruits & veggies. use pinterest to find many different ways to cook them and use them in recipes.
lastly, not that it's a step, realize that clean eating is 80% attitude. you got this & you can do it. if you need inspiration, go read some fitness quotes. or go look at old pictures of yourself in a swimsuit. don't become obsessive over your body. don't say that you have GOT to become a size 0, because that is not normal or in most cases, not very pleasant if your body type doesn't permit that. chin up. read inspiration. and start small.
