my friend lauren has been there for me for years. we were never the type of friends to hang out every day, or gossip about boyfriends, or even go shopping together. it seemed like we got together when both of us unconsciously needed an outlet or something.
a few months ago, after volunteering at the justice center, lauren & i both were talking about a specific thing we both struggle with. we were sharing common symptoms, interests, knowledge, and more. as she was talking, i couldn't help but think, "this girl can see right through me! she's like speaking to my soul." haha.
after the blogger meetup, as i was driving back to draper with lauren, we got on the topic of trials. and before you know it, we were both opening up about our struggles and hardships. this does not happen, people. i am a pretty closed person when it comes to personal problems but lauren is one heck of a girl. and she made me feel like i wasn't alone in what i was facing.
we have all heard the quote by pluto:
"be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
i have always loved that quote. but i never realized how true it really is. if you know someone who is always happy, constantly smiling & laughing, it doesn't mean that everything is going great in their lives. people are struggling. the majority of people...are struggling. be aware of that. and also know that you aren't alone in what you're facing.
