are you an extrovert or an introvert?

It seems like a heck of a lot of people have been talking about finding themselves to be either an introvert or an extrovert. I decided to look into it & my oh my. I smiled a little. Then wondered if I should be ashamed. But then smiled again because heck! These introverted people understand me. Completely! A few months ago, Trevor had a super big crazy trip coming up where he'd be gone for almost a week. I was partially excited to be alone, yet I wanted company. Of course I want company! But I found myself only wanting to be around people that knew me really well. I didn't really understand that. Making new friends is lovely, but, I ALWAYS prefer hanging out with the ones that know me best. There are only one or two extroverted qualities I possess, however, the rest are almost full-blown introverted. Blogger meetups? Unless I know almost every person going, I hate them. Do I make deep conversation with someone once I know they have similar interests? Absolutely! I'm typically reserved and I tend to know MORE about few topics rather than vice versa. So take a seat. Ask yourself the questions below. And figure out what the crap you are, because I tend to think this list helped me learn a lot about myself and the reason why I am the way I am as well as the reason I do things the way I do them.

Where do you get your energy?
Introverts get their energy from down time.
Extroverts get their energy from involving themselves around people & activities.

How do you think in terms of speaking?
Introverts think before they speak or act.
Extroverts think out loud.

Do you listen more or talk more?
Introverts speak more softly, they listen more and are also more inclined to make deep conversation.
Extroverts talk more and speak faster and louder. Extroverts are also more inclined to make chitcat.

How many people do you prefer speaking to?
Introverts prefer to speak with one or two people at a time.
Extroverts prefer to work the whole room.

Do you initiate approaching someone/something?
Introverts usually wait to be approached in social situations and are typically reserved.
Extroverts initiate conversations in social situations and are typically active & expressive.

Do you enjoy working in groups or by yourself?
Introverts enjoy working alone or with another person.
Introverts enjoy working in a group.

A couple other fun facts...
•Introverts know a lot about a few topics while extroverts know a little about a lot of topics.
•Introverts are reflective and appear more calm while extroverts are more energetic.
•Introverts are more detail oriented and extroverts prefer faster and less complicated tasks.
•Introverts have a few deep interests and extroverts have many interests.

Here's a fun chart that should help you decipher between the two.

I want to know. Are you introverted or extroverted?

I got my information from a few sources. One source was this book. Another was this chart. And another was this article

  1. Love this! I just took a class this term where we talked a lot about different personality types, and introvert/extrovert were some of the main ones we discussed. I am definitely an introvert. I think a lot of people view being an introvert as a negative thing because we're more quiet. There are pros and cons to each and it's important to understand and respect them. Thanks for sharing!

  4. I am definitely an extrovert. If I don't get my daily fix of socializing, I get really depressed. It was bad news when I would get grounded in high school--I would literally get sick from not being able to be with my friends. My parents had to come up with a new punishment for me...

I loved reading this, because it helped me realize how many of my close friends are actually introverts. It helps me understand them better. :) Thanks for sharing!

P.S. I love your new design! (maybe it's not brand new, but it's new to me since this is the first time in a while I've read your blog on my computer instead of the bloglovin app on my phone. :)

  5. I can never decide. I definitely was always an extrovert growing up, but the older I get and the more I deal with people, I think I am an extrovert when it comes to certain people and situations and other times I find myself wishing I didn't have to go out and hang out with people.. It's weird. :P So I think I am on the fence lately, can I be that?! ;)

  7. *Raises hand. Introvert. I have one or two good friends, beyond that, I prefer to be with my family. I appreciate a quiet night alone. And I could have pegged you as an introvert without even knowin' ya! Love it. Cute new design, too.
