whoot!
after this step,
make sure you go back into "get info"
and uncheck the start & stop times.
otherwise it won't play the whole song.
*be sure to have your iPhone plugged in. . .
otherwise the TONES folder may not show up.*

What ringtones are you going to create?

I can't wait to do this! I tried making my own ring tones a few years ago and didn't know what I was doing. Thanks for posting!

ReplyDeleteAAHHHH.....i got it! thanks a million.
ReplyDeletebrand new key of course, i've been waiting forever to get this!
Thanks so much!! This is awesome! One thing...I tried to go to your link on how to get free music into your itunes, but it said the page doesn't exist?
ReplyDeleteHey Laura! Unfortunately, the post was causing a LOT of stir. If you believe burning a CD is illegal, you probably shouldn't retrieve your music this way. Otherwise, follow the directions at the provided link http://pinterest.com/pin/279856564315329698/ Somebody pinned it!
DeleteHave a great day!
Sure doesn't seem legal. It's still a pirated song.
ReplyDeleteWhy hello you anonymous pansy. This is 110% legal. The songs come from your iTunes library. It's up to the iTunes user to determine WHERE (underlined and bolded) they get their songs.
DeleteSincerely,
Amanda
Is this possible to do with windows? I see you are on a Mac (lucky you!). I get all the way to step 5 and my PC doesn't give me the option to change the file extension. Any help is appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem when I got to step 5. Have you been able to figure it out?
DeleteI was having the same problem. This site has more details for Windows users. It worked for me, hope it does for you :-)

So..I just tried it, and everything worked, but it didn't open in my tones folder. I did just get an iPhone today, do I need to connect it to my computer first?...
ReplyDeleteOkay, so i figured out how to make the ringtone, but now how do i set it? i'm feeling not so smart when it comes to tech. right now.....
DeleteJana, How did you get it to open into ringtones? Im stuck at that part..
DeleteHey ladies! You guessed it--you need to plug your ipod/iphone into the computer first. And then open the song & it should come up in your ringtones folder. I should have specified that....I'll change it now! THanks!
DeleteThis isn't working for me :(
ReplyDeleteI got up to the last step, but the new updated iTunes doesn't seem to have a tones folder. Any ideas for me?
Hey Ashley. I usually have to plug my iPod or iPhone IN before the tones folder will pop up. Sometimes, it won't pull up UNTIL you click on it and open it in iTunes..if that makes sense.
DeleteAmanda this is great. Just did it. Amazing. Thanks
ReplyDeleteAmanda, thanks this is amazing.
ReplyDeleteQuick questions, Itunes is only allowing me to have one of the ringtones that I created on my phone. Is this correct or should I be able to see all of them(2) on my phone.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Hey Lisa! I'm so glad you got it to work...mostly! When your iPhone is plugged into your computer, click on it, then click the tab "tones." From there, you can select which ringtones you want to include, or, all of them! Sometimes you have to sync it again for it to show up on your phone! Let me know if you have any further questions.
